Switching Power Supply Works
Jun 07, 2018

The working process of the switching power supply is quite easy to understand. In the linear power supply, the power transistor operates in the linear mode. Unlike the linear power supply, the PWM switching power supply is to make the power transistor operate in the on and off state. In the state, the volt-ampere product added to the power transistor is small (low voltage at turn-on, large current at turn-on; high voltage at turn-off, low current)/volt-ampere product on power device is power semiconductor The loss produced on the device.

Compared with the linear power supply, PWM switching power supply more effective work process is through the "chopping wave", that is, the input DC voltage is reduced to a pulse voltage of amplitude equal to the input voltage amplitude to achieve.

The duty cycle of the pulse is adjusted by the controller of the switching power supply. Once the input voltage is split into an AC square wave, its amplitude can be increased or decreased by the transformer. By increasing the number of transformer secondary windings, the output voltage can be increased. Finally, these AC waveforms are rectified and filtered to obtain the DC output voltage.
